** Golden Books Announces Publishing Program with Twentieth Century Fox

Golden Books Family Entertainment announced a major publishing program with Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising for the development of a wide variety of new and classic Golden Books formats for the studio's 1997 event film, Anastasia, scheduled for theatrical release in November.

Anastasia will be featured in storybooks, sound books, coloring and activity books, easy-to-read movie storybooks, and educational workbooks, shipping to stores in the fall. Anastasia, the first animated feature film from Fox Animation Studios, is based on the story of the lost Russian princess rumored to be the last surviving member of the Romanov family.

New, formats are a large part of Golden Books' Anastasia collection:

-- Extra Smart Pages(TM) features revolutionary "in-the-pages" sound technology, which uses real movie sounds, including the voice of Meg Ryan as Anastasia.

-- Read & Wear(TM) offers the image of the movie characters on a clip kids can wear as well as a story they can read inside.

-- Golden Story Workbooks(TM) encourages kids to do various skill-building activities in reading, math, or spelling by tying every activity into a full, fast-paced story told in easy-to-read language.

"To support Anastasia, we sought a publisher who commands a lead in the children's book market, offers a variety of new formats as well as classic staples, and whose creativity and innovation set new standards in children's publishing," said Pat Wyatt, president, Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising. "Golden Books offers all of this and more. We are honored to have Golden Books as a publishing partner."

Set against the backdrop of 1920s St. Petersburg and Paris, Anastasia is a magical mix of action, adventure, romance, humor and music. Boasting the rich vocal talents of Meg Ryan, John Cusack, Angela Lansbury, Kelsey Grammer, Christopher Lloyd, Hank Azaria, and Bernadette Peters, this full-length animated motion picture delivers superb animation and storytelling from the talented team of Don Bluth and Gary Goldman. One of the greatest mysteries of our time is brought to life in this unique twentieth-century fairy tale.

** Cybernautics Tapped for Simon & Schuster Virtual Expedition

Cybernautics, Inc., an Internet audience development and Web-content creation company, has been selected by Simon & Schuster, an educational publisher, to design and develop a web-based project that will take students on a "virtual field trip" to the Mediterranean. The interactive project will be launched in September on Edscape, Simon & Schuster's education web site.

The Edscape Global Fieldtrip project, which is designed for classroom use for grades 3-12, is a joint effort with BikeAbout, a non-profit organization specializing in cycling educational Internet adventures. Coinciding with back-to-school, the team of five cyclists - known on Edscape as "IJs" or Internet Jockeys -- will set out on September 25, eastward along the Moroccan coast. They will eventually conclude their 10,000 mile journey through 19 countries in Gibraltar in June at the end of the school year.

The IJs will communicate with students about historical points of interest and contemporary cultural issues, and they will incorporate the thoughts and opinions of local students and experts. Cybernautics' design work will support this educational area with graphics and interactive elements that engage students while also supporting teachers' educational goals. The design will incorporate student research, collaboration, communication and online publishing.

"There is no more important application for the vast resources of the Internet and the Web than education," said Keith Schaefer, Cybernautics CEO. "Utilizing our expertise and experience we will create compelling and attractive design elements which will appeal to students and involve them in this interdisciplinary curriculum. Bringing education alive by making it interactive reinforces our belief in the 'any time, any place' learning opportunity that both the Web and the Internet provide. Cybernautics is committed to developing Internet-appealing approaches that benefit children and education. Our work on behalf of Stand For Children, or the broader scope of work required to be undertaken in conjunction with others in our industry to make Vice President Gore's goal of 'connecting' all of our schools to the Internet a reality, is a high Cybernautics priority."

Edscape is an education web site for K-12 educators and students. The site delivers interactive curriculum content for students, ranging all grade levels and discipline areas. Edscape gives educators additional value by aligning its interactive web content with national education standards and other Simon & Schuster educational content, including textbooks and software.
