Better Homes & Gardens Takes Recipes from Index Cards to Internet

Better Homes and Gardens® in conjunction with Mindbridge Consulting has helped develop a web site for posting and trading recipes. The application can be seen by going to Mindbridge's web site at http://www.mindbridge.com.

David Christian, president of Mindbridge stated, "We have developed an expertise in producing dynamic web sites that evoke a sense of 'community,' visitors to the web site not only 'surf' the web page but actually participate in adding content and interacting with others of a particular on-line community. It is really a 'win-win' for all parties.

"The visitors to the web site get information from not only the magazine but other readers with similar interests and Better Homes and Gardens® solidifies their relationship with their readers."

Mindbridge has also built a on-line discussion forum that allows readers of Better Homes and Gardens® to discuss issues pertaining to the values that are promoted in the magazine.

New Media Guide Website Launched

The New Media Guide, a website directory for professionals in all facets of the Internet, was launched today as a solution for the industry's burgeoning development needs, it was announced by Dan Rosenbaum, founder and Editor-In-Chief.

With free registration for listings, and using a "people-to-people" format, The New Media Guide has been designed to facilitate contact between everyone involved in the world's fastest-growing industry -- "from programmers and artists to producers and CEOs" -- to complete their projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.

According to Rosenbaum, the facts of Internet business life today provided the platform for this innovative launch. "Most members of the New Media community are more identified as individuals rather than as parts of companies," he explained. "Working alone," he added, "it's difficult for these professionals to keep up with the industry's rapid changes, or even find each other both for work or the exchange of ideas and information."

Coupled with the fact that companies today are less dependent on full-time employees and increasingly need to find talent on a project basis, Rosenbaum noted that The New Media Guide represents "the revolutionary missing link in the evolution of the industry."

To register with The New Media Guide, users simply complete a registration form and select from one of approximately 100 different professional specialties. Registrations are confirmed via an e-mail containing a unique URL, and registrants are encouraged to regularly update their listings. In addition, members are rewarded for contributing their own links and referring new members, which adds to the web of relationships, experiences and connections from which all members can benefit.

Veteran Jamaican Journalist Writes Sports Column For Sun-Sentinel

Tino Geddes, a veteran Jamaican print and broadcast journalist, is now writing a weekly sports column for the South Florida-based Sun-Sentinel. The column -- Sports of The Caribbean -- focuses on sporting events in the Caribbean and events of interest to those in South Florida who have a Caribbean background.

"My column is a reflection of what's happening in the Caribbean and around the world where people are participating in sports," Geddes said. "Our goal is to get information out to the West Indian community as quickly as possible."

The column, which debuted on March 22 and will appear every Sunday in the Sun-Sentinel sports section, is the first of its kind in South Florida.

"People are starved for up-to-date sports information about the Caribbean," said Geddes, who will be writing about cricket, soccer, boxing, track and field and netball, as well as other sports.

Dan Norman, Sun-Sentinel deputy managing editor for sports/features said Geddes' column will give the newspaper one more way to meet the information needs of the growing South Florida Caribbean community. Norman said that Geddes is a perfect choice to write the column because of his extensive background in sports journalism.

Alcanseek's Alaska Highway Travelers Forum and Alaska Visitor Resources

Alcanseek’s interactive travel forums are designed to aid summer tourists traveling the Alaska Highway (Alcan) and give them the scoop on the best and worst restaurants, motels, rest stops, gas stations and most importantly, road conditions. Updates will come from adventurers that have recently traveled the highway to provide the latest up-to-date information.

Other new additions to the popular Alcanseek site are the Alaska City Travel Guide featuring links and information to Alaska’s most popular visitors centers, and the Alaska Parks Guide for in-depth information on Alaska’s State and National Parks and recreation areas.

Other additions featuring Canadian City information and Parks are on the way as well, making the Alcanseek Search Engine a valuable resource for anyone interested in the north country.
