Country Music Boulevard Launches

N2K's Music Boulevard an online music store and CBS Cable's country.com, the country music and lifestyle website have launched their special co-branded area for retail music sales called Country Music Boulevard. This version of N2K's Music Boulevard 200,000-title online music store is integrated into both country.com and musicblvd.com. The first promotion for the co-branded store is campaign to promote new releases from two of country music's biggest superstars: Reba and Brooks & Dunn.

Reba and Brooks & Dunn have recorded a duet entitled, "If You See Him/If You See Her." This song was written by Terry McBride, Jennifer Kimball and Tommy Lee James and jointly produced by Tony Brown of MCA Records and Tim DuBois of Arista Nashville. Both new records have a release date of June 2nd.

Ziff-Davis' Computer Shopper Expands Across Platforms

Computer Shopper announced its expansion across multiple media platforms, which include Computer Shopper magazine in print, Computer Shopper NetBuyer on the ZDNet website, and now on television with ZDTV's Computer Shopper. To support this development, Computer Shopper has formed a unified sales force, which will represent all three platforms, providing vendors integrated solutions for reaching a broad audience of computer product buyers.

Computer Shopper magazine launched in 1979, and quickly became the direct channel's leading source of buying information. In 1996, the brand was expanded to the Web with the launch of Computer Shopper NetBuyer. Now, Computer Shopper on ZDTV will provide buyers with an additional source of information, while exposing the Computer Shopper brand to a broader audience of computer buyers.

As part of this expansion, David Berlind, former Editor-in-Chief at Windows Sources magazine, will step up to the position of Editorial Director to provide editorial direction and continuity for Computer Shopper in print, on the Web and on TV. Berlind will work closely with Editor-in-Chief John Blackford.


Media Arts Group Inc. Signs Agreement with Thomas Nelson Publishers

Media Arts Group, Inc., announced a licensing agreement with Thomas Nelson Publishers and Tommy Nelson, a division of Thomas Nelson Publishers. Thomas Nelson will create a variety of books, including inspirational and gift books, based on the art of Thomas Kinkade, Painter of Light. The book collections will be published under three brand names. The first collection, which celebrates American pasttimes and values, is due for release in November, 1998. The two subsequent collections will be released later in 1999.

Tommy Nelson, a division of Thomas Nelson Publishers, publishes children's books exclusively. A complete line of books will be created that translates the art and messages of Thomas Kinkade, Painter of Light into a storyline for children's books.

According to Thomas Nelson Publisher Rolf Zettersten, "This is a significant opportunity for our company. Thomas Kinkade has experienced tremendous success, and we are honored to play an integral part in his publishing strategy."


Three PointCast Newspaper Affiliates Extend Commitment

PointCast Incorporated announced that three of its premier affiliates have extended their commitment to PointCast. The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal Interactive Edition and the Boston Globe have renewed their contracts to supply their local, national and international content to the PointCast® Network for periods ranging from one to two years. As part of these new agreements, the three affiliates will expand and revamp their existing channels on the PointCast Network.

The PointCast Network is a news and information service that broadcasts content directly to the computer screens of more than one million active viewers. PointCast's affiliates are media companies, which deliver content through branded channels and derive revenue on advertising sales for the audience they attract. PointCast currently has 24 regional, national and special-interest media affiliates, including CNN, ZDNet, Time Warner's Pathfinder and Wired News.

"When our affiliates signed with us in 1996 and 1997, they believed in the promise of the Internet. Today they are renewing, because they believe in the potential of their franchises on PointCast," said Don Albert, vice president of strategic sales and affiliate development at PointCast. "Each of these affiliates has a large and loyal PointCast audience and a compelling advertising model that complements their website's advertising offerings."
