Mark Reed and Bill Lewis to Lead New Orange County Site

OCnow.com, the city site focused on Orange County launched last month by Cox Interactive Media (CIM), announced Mack Reed as news producer and Bill Lewis as marketing manager.

"Mack and Bill's contributions have played an enormous role in the early success of OCnow.com," said Studio Manager Braxton Jarratt. "Their commitment and input has helped make OCnow.com Orange County's daily destination for frequently updated local and interactive news, weather reports, marine and surf conditions, entertainment and recreation."

Mack Reed began his journalism career reporting community news for the Norwich Bulletin in Conneticut's blue-collar east end. Over the next several years, his career led him to The New Haven Advocate, The St. Petersburg Times, The Philadelphia Daily News and The Philadelphia Inquirer. While at the Inquirer, Mack won the National Mental Health Association's 1987 Silver Medallion for his investigation of overcrowding in a psychiatric hospital.

In 1990, Mack joined the Los Angeles Times, where he helped launch the Ventura County edition as a staff writer, covered criminal justice, youth and defense contractors, and contributed a weekly column. In 1996, Mack earned the California Bar Association's Bronze Medallion for his investigation of a shortage of death row lawyers in the state, and he has also been honored on several occasions by the Ventura County Press Club.
