NAR Membership Magazine Changes Name and Look Today's Realtor, the official membership magazine of the National Association of Realtors, will take on a new name and a new design when the monthly publication shifts its editorial focus this fall to increase its value as a marketing tool for members, the association has announced. The new design, approved by the association's leadership during NAR's business meetings here in April, will premiere with the October 1998 issue, and will carry the name, Realtor Magazine. Among the many changes inside will be new columns, a greater focus on business trends in the real estate industry and market, and a repositioning of some of the magazine's existing editorials, according to NAR Executive Vice President Terrence A. McDermott. The October 1998 issue also will feature a special pre-convention section with the latest on registration, exhibitor and session information about NAR's annual convention and trade exposition in Anaheim, Calif., in November. "The magazine has been redesigned and the editorial focus honed to better reflect the association's mission statement and to better serve our members," McDermott said. "We are excited about these changes and look forward to the first issue of Realtor Magazine. We believe this publication will become the Realtors' single source for essential, compelling, business-focused information on how to increase their bottom-line success," McDermott added. The monthly publication, which has a circulation of 720,000 and a readership of 1.3 million, including pass-alongs, will continue to serve both managers and sales associates, and will average 80 pages per issue, according to NAR Senior Vice President for Communications Frank J. Sibley. "We believe this redesign and editorial refocus will allow Realtor Magazine to more effectively compete for our readers' time and for advertising dollars against the likes of Forbes, Fortune, Money, Home Office Computing, Success and similar magazines," Sibley said. Emerald first ventured into newsletters with Financial Ink (designed for professionals, executives, and up-and-coming accumulators), followed by Golden Strategies (for retirees and pre-retirees). Like Business Wise, both are full color newsletters, NASD reviewed, and offered with a wide-range of customization options. With the addition of "Business Wise," Emerald now addresses all segments of the marketplace with their full line of newsletters.
