"The Week In Space," available at Foxnews.com, is a newly-created section that takes a look at news, profiles, quotes and photos culled from astrological media. The cornerstone of this new section is the site's "Telescope: A Look in Space." Updated daily, "A Look In Space" is a photo gallery of satellite photos of space phenomena such as stars billions of years old, emerging planets, nebulae, quasars and a wide array of cosmic occurrences. All of the daily photos, along with captions accompanying each, will be archived and available to view throughout the week. In addition to "A Look in Space," the section will offer users a selection of original feature stories created by the Fox News Online editorial staff, fact and theory sheets from the scientific community, and profiles of people and places that relate to the study of outer space. Hearst Magazines and K-tel to Launch Music Series Hearst Magazines Brand Development and K-tel International (USA) have joined forces to produce a series of CD music anthologies under the Cosmopolitan and Esquire brands. K-tel and Hearst will also produce a Good Housekeeping series of children's cassettes on Kid-Tel. The Esquire Essential Music series launches with the August release of Soul Classics. The Cosmopolitan series, Club Cosmo, and the first five Good Housekeeping Kids titles will be available later this fall. All titles will be available at all major music retailers, including mass merchants, record chains and independent retailers, or via the internet at the K-tel Express website. Packaging for the CDs and cassettes will also resemble each magazine's individual look and position in the marketplace. In some cases, packages will feature tie-ins such as free software samplers, bonus CD mail-in offers and subscription discount coupons. Warner Bros., DC Comics and Hasbro Announce 'Be The Man-Batman' Contest Urging kids to use their imaginations, Warner Bros. Consumer Products, DC Comics and Hasbro, Inc. announced a writing contest as part of the year-long "Be the Man-Batman" national promotional campaign at Comic-Con International in San Diego (Comic-Con) during a press conference today. The contest invites children 18 years of age and under to consider life as the Caped Crusader and complete a 25-word or less written entry that begins, "I want to Be the Man, Batman, because..." The first prize winners (5 winners from the United States; 3 additional from concurrent contest outside of the United States) will win a trip for two to Los Angeles; a VIP tour of Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, CA.; tickets to Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park; a ride in the Batmobile; and $250 in prize money. The trip will reach its climax as each first prize winner will get the chance to win the grand prize of $1 million at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Ten thousand second prize winners will receive the The Batman/Superman Movie videotape and 10,000 third prize winners will receive DC Comics comic books. Entry forms and full contest POP displays will be available at mass market retailers beginning September 1998. The exact date of the Grand Prize trip will be announced at a later date, but it will be between June 1 and September 10, 1999. Winners will be selected based upon their originality, creativity and appropriateness to the Batman theme. First prize winners will be notified by mail on or before April 15, 1999.
