Through our own editorial staff and the flow of information from our content partners, we supply unbiased, popularly written financial editorial on the world's marketplaces." law.com Acquires Legal Website Counsel Quest law.com, a newly formed Arizona-based company, has announced the acquisition of the Counsel Quest website. Counsel Quest, is a web tool for finding legal information. law.com Chairman and CEO R. Bruce Whiting said the company, which will launch its site this fall, is currently negotiating to acquire other legal sites as well. "There is some terrific legal information on the web, but we believe the time has finally come to break down the barriers and make that information much more accessible and easier to use for business people, consumers and the legal community," said Whiting. Whiting said law.com would provide the business community and individual consumers a comprehensive community for finding out about laws, cases, legal fees and lawyers. law.com will also feature thousands of downloadable legal forms. He said the company will also focus on helping lawyers use the Internet to communicate with clients and the business community by providing website consulting and design, "@law.com " e-mail address services, and information on products and services. FOX Sports Online Unveils New Site Design FOX Sports Online unveiled a newly designed site with new features and functionality, exclusive online analysis from FOX Sports' on-air experts, in-depth regional coverage, customizable score boards, player tracking, and real-time game information. FOX Sports Online is operated and produced by News America Digital Publishing. The new site, launched to coincide with the kick-off of the new NFL season, provides fans with targeted, comprehensive regional information. The design and functionality of the new site enables fans to navigate easily through the depth of information from a universal navigation bar featured prominently at the top of the screen throughout the site. Bold graphic and production features like the java-enhanced FOX Box Ticker scoreboard, which runs across the top of the nav bar, reflect the style and attitude of the site's broadcast counterpart. By clicking on the board, fans are given a menu of customization options, enabling them to select only the game results they wish to see appear on the ticker. Fans are prompted to enter their ZIP codes in a prominently displayed box which will then link to regional action, setting the region of choice as the default page. Bigwords.com Enters the College Textbook Market Bigwords.com announced the launch of an Internet bookstore that sells and rents new and used textbooks to college students anywhere. College students pay more than $5 billion annually for their textbooks (according to NACS), yet most complain about selection, availability and price. Bigwords.com has established relationships with major textbook publishers and distributors to create a comprehensive selection of new and used books available. The site has more than 2.5 million titles. "College students need a break. They've been standing in line for over a hundred years, paying top dollar and putting up with limited availability," said Bigwords.com founder and president, Matt Johnson. "Bigwords.com is the student-friendly alternative. With our huge inventory, great discounts, and innovative rental program, students get what they need on their terms." When students choose the rental program they will be charged 60% of the cost of the book, and a deposit equal to the other 40%. At the end of the quarter when they return the book postage pre-paid, their charge card will be credited, or they can receive Bigwords credit, or even a check in the mail. SonicNet Album Reviews Website Debuts SonicNet Music Network, an online music network, is launching albumreviews.com, a new music album reviews website on September 1st. Albumreviews.com will feature two new album reviews daily, five days a week, album-related news, an upcoming releases page and access to the entire Addicted to Noise/ SonicNet album reviews archive. Included in each review will be some excerpts from the albums lasting approximately thirty seconds each. "SonicNet's albumreviews.com will provide fans of contemporary music with the best reviews of new albums on or off the Web," says SonicNet Senior Vice-President and Editorial Director Michael Goldberg, who will oversee the site. "The SonicNet team has spent months creating a website that combines ease of use, a state-of-the-art interface and top quality reviews and news. For the first time, there is a high quality multi-media album reviews site." Conde Nast Traveler and Travel Channel Create Programming Alliance Conde Nast Traveler and Travel Channel are joining forces to produce television programming. Thomas A. Florio, vice president and publisher of Conde Nast Traveler, and Jay R. Feldman, senior vice president and general manager of Travel Channel, announced that this partnership will bring these very special programs to an unprecedented audience of affluent, worldly travelers. Conde Nast Traveler and Travel Channel will partner to produce Conde Nast Traveler Presents Amazing Destinations, an original, primetime series premiering on Travel Channel on Monday, September 28. The magazine's editor-in-chief, Thomas Wallace, will host the series, which airs Monday through Friday from 10-11 PM (ET/PT). The two companies are also producing The Conde Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards; a 60-minute primetime special based on the magazine's Readers' Choice Awards issue published each fall.
