Created for ages six to 12, the site encourages children to play online and off and to involve their parents in projects and experiments. To develop www.hbo4kids.com, HBO worked with Xceed's interactive division, Reset. The extra challenge presented by creating an entire "kid safe" environment on the World Wide Web presented the firm with an opportunity to apply its expertise in online entertainment to the burgeoning Internet youth community. "Our goal for this site was to create a stimulating and interactive place for kids that wasn't solely focused on TV programming," said Dolores Morris, vice president, HBO Family. "We think kids will like the content while their parents will like the non-commercial and educational aspects of the site." Billboard Talent Net Announces Launch of the BTN Lounge Network Billboard Talent Net (BTN), an Internet showcase for new and developing artists, has announced the launch this month of The BTN Lounge Network. To further support local development of unsigned and emerging artists and repertoire, The BTN Lounge Network permits syndication of BTN's premium music and artist information for online distribution into select key markets. BTN will enable each Lounge to provide access to artist and music rankings, such as the weekly BTN Top 10 and Radio BTN Top 50. Visitors are invited to register, sample music and vote for their favorite artists. Each Lounge tabulates its own users' votes, contributing to a market-specific Top 10. Starting with the weekly publishing of the Top 10 Germany, each of the market-specific Top 10 rankings will provide insight into the popularity of some of today's most outstanding new and emerging acts, according to a particular market's audience. "While BTN already provides worldwide exposure to new artists and music, the BTN Lounge Network specifically enhances our commitment to local artist development in key markets," said Andreas Wuerfel, General Manager of Billboard Talent Net. "Each individual Lounge affords our artists with an opportunity to be heard and seen both at home and abroad, while providing local audiences with a unique window into an international pool of outstanding emerging artists. It is clearly a win win situation for everyone involved."
