According to data from the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) Fas-Fax Report, for the six-months ending December 31, 1998, PC World declared an average of 1,000,453 paid subscribers per issue. "PC World has consistently exceeded its rate base, which is a tribute to the quality of its editorial product and talented circulation team," noted PC World's publisher, Jeff Edman. "But PC World does more than provide added value and fulfill its promise to advertisers: PC World's circulation continues to come from its target reader, the PC-proficient manager. As IntelliQuest CIMS v5.0 shows, PC World increased its average issue audience reach to business influencers more than 17%, and added more management business influencers than any of the other 85 publications measured in both v4.0 and v5.0. It's a winning equation: PC World's natural circulation momentum, fueled by editorial excellence, builds the best environment for product marketing." Website Provides Information about One-To-One Marketing on the Web Authors of the online marketing book, Internet World Guide to One-To-One Web Marketing, report that they have seen considerable growth in the use and acceptance of one-to-one web technologies. "It is hard not to find a popular website not using one-to-one technologies. In fact, almost all of the top online shopping sites use one or more of these techniques on their sites. These sites have used web technologies to personalize customers' online experiences as well as to gather customer information," states Deborah Kania, co-author and web marketing consultant. "With such intense competition over the online audience, we see more and more web sites such as using one-to-one web marketing techniques to lock in customer loyalty. Our site gives online marketers a focused and comprehensive guide to implement these types of programs." One-To-One Web Marketing Online is an online resource for marketers interested in using the web to create and manage relationships with online customers. The site was launched in April 1998 as a companion to the Internet World Guide to One-To-One Web Marketing written by Cliff Allen, Deborah Kania and Beth Yaeckel for John Wiley & Sons publishers. The site provides a monthly online newsletter and e-mail news alert to all site visitors. The site covers subjects contained in the book including one-to-one marketing, web interactivity, e-mail, web site, personalization, push, web community, web presentation and conferencing, online advertising and promotion, web site tracking and analysis, web-to-database integration, and online privacy. All subjects are addressed from a one-to-one marketing perspective. The American Experience Launches Three Mile Island Website It was never supposed to happen. In the predawn hours of March 28, 1979, a reactor at the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, suddenly began to overheat. The lives of a million people soon hung in the balance; as mechanical failure and human error combined to create the worst nuclear accident in American history. Twenty years later, The American Experience Online Meltdown at Three Mile Island website tells the story of the frantic race to avert nuclear disaster. The Meltdown at Three Mile Island site accompanies the broadcast of The American Experience's one-hour documentary on Monday, February 22 at 9 pm on PBS. The American Experience Online appears on PBS Online. The American Experience Online produces a companion website for every new television broadcast of The American Experience, with information beyond the broadcast including program schedules, teacher's guides, audience feedback and links to related sites.
