The magazine, a publication covering the transformation of business in the Internet Age, will publish 20 issues in 2000, up from 12 this year. The bi-weekly format will begin with the May 2000 issue. "Since its launch just 17 months ago, Business 2.0 has quickly become a must-read monthly for new business leaders we identify as Transformers. Hungry for the insight, ideas and views that the editorial content provides, these Transformers can't seem to get enough relevant information on the new rules shaping the new economy delivered in a way that offers them applicable business solutions," said Michela O'Connor Abrams, president of the Business Division. "We're committed to maintaining our editorial vision while delivering this powerful content more frequently to our growing base of readers." Source to Make Barnes & Noble's Daily Sales Data Available The Source Information Management Company has announced a contract with Barnes & Noble Inc. to jointly offer daily sales data to magazine publishers via Source Information's Interactive Communication Network (ICN), a business-to-business Internet site. The data will cover sales, inventory and distribution on a daily store-by-store, title-by-issue basis, from Barnes & Noble's approximately 1,000 bookstores. "This is a revolutionary development for magazine publishers, especially publishers of weekly periodicals. Never before have publishers been able to access daily sales data, enabling them to evaluate issue performance, predict final sales of current issues and measure the effectiveness of covers," said S. Leslie Flegel, chairman and chief executive officer of The Source. "Magazine publishers will now be able to gauge the performance of specific titles in various regions of the country versus the competition. Barnes & Noble's extraordinary reach in different markets gives publishers the unparalleled opportunity to access information on magazine promotion effectiveness." (SSC) and Be, Incorporated have announced the launch of Be Magazine, a new print publication devoted to Be and its software platforms, including the Be Operating System (BeOS). Be Magazine will launch as a bi-monthly publication with an initial circulation of 30,000 copies. The premiere issue of Be Magazine will arrive on newsstands in March of 2000. Scot Hacker, author of The BeOS Bible, has been named editor of Be Magazine. An authority on the Be operating system for over four years, Hacker has witnessed the growth of the Be platform. "BeOS applications are appearing in major computer stores, the user base is expanding, and the operating system is supporting more and more key technologies," said Mr. Hacker. "Just as readers have not had a single magazine they could turn to for Be Operating System information, advertisers have not had a targeted venue for promoting their Be-specific products," said Phil Hughes, president of SSC and publisher of Be Magazine.
