Wednesday, January 12, 2000 @griculture Online Announces Marketing Alliance With XSAg.com Meredith Corporation has announced a strategic marketing alliance between Successful Farming @griculture Online, and XSAg.com., which is owned by XS, Inc., of Research Triangle Park, N.C. Launched in 1995 by the editors of Successful Farming magazine, @griculture Online is an agricultural website. XSAg.com is an online trading exchange that allows for the purchase and sale of various agricultural inputs such as chemicals and seed. Under terms of the strategic marketing alliance, @griculture Online will provide a link to a customized version of XSAg.com's auction site. In addition, Meredith will make an equity investment in XS, Inc. in exchange for a minority position in the venture. "This alliance and equity investment fits well with Meredith's corporate online strategy of extending our strong publishing brands to serve readers and advertisers, while generating incremental revenues and profit," said Meredith Chairman and CEO William T. Kerr. "Farmers are using our site to help make purchasing decisions for their farm operation. It is an extension of our service to provide users an opportunity to purchase ag products and services directly from our site," said Jim Cornick, Publisher of Successful Farming magazine and @griculture Online. "We will add considerable content to our site to assist farmers in making purchasing decisions, such as discussion groups, product comparisons, product reviews, buyer experiences, and farmer buyers groups."
