British Living & Style Launched By Forbes Special Interest Publications

Forbes Special Interest Publications has launched the first issue of British Living & Style, a magazine devoted to travel, design and lifestyles in the United Kingdom.

"We feel the time is right for a feature magazine for the sophisticated traveler-one who wants to know more about their destination than the name of the latest hotel or restaurant," said Catherine Sabino, Forbes SIP Editor-in-Chief. "British Living & Style plans to include articles that give fresh insight into a society and culture that are of great interest to many Americans."

The first issue features stories by well-known journalists and authors from the UK. Included are: "Dukes, Inc.," chronicling how Britain's high-ranking peers have found their niche as modern managers, by the Tatler's Quentin Letts; "The New Sloane Rangers," describing what this group represents today, by The Telegraph's Simon Mills; "Still Taking a Bow," about the resurgence of English debutantes, by the Tatler's Rory Ross; and "Minding Their Manors," recounting the pleasures of English country homes, by Conde Nast Traveler (UK) contributor Martin O'Brien.

"We are confident that there's an untapped market for readers and advertisers interested in the high-end UK travel and style market," said Dick Stockton, Forbes SIP Vice President/GM. "The magazine's distribution and circulation will be highly targeted for the first few issues-limited newsstand distribution is planned for the second issue." The second issue will be published May 1, 2000.

Initially, British Living & Style is being sent to 50,000 high-income Forbes magazine subscribers. It will also be mailed to members of the Forbes 400 Rich List and Forbes Power Celebrity 100 list as well as to the heads of Forbes 500 Annual Leading Companies and Forbes 500 Largest Private Companies.
