EMMIS Completes Acquisition of Los Angeles Magazine

EMMIS Communications Corporation has announced the closing of its acquisition of Los Angeles Magazine from The Walt Disney Company. On Jan. 24 EMMIS announced it had signed a definitive agreement with Disney to purchase the magazine.

The addition of Los Angeles Magazine enhances the EMMIS Publishing group of Texas Monthly, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Indianapolis Monthly and Country Sampler, but also increases EMMIS' presence in the L.A. market, Chairman & CEO Jeff Smulyan noted. EMMIS already owns KPWR-FM. Los Angeles Magazine, with a monthly paid circulation of 183,373 and a total monthly readership of 550,000+, covers everything from politics and personalities to film, restaurants and nightlife.

EMMIS Communications is an Indianapolis-based diversified media firm with radio broadcasting, television broadcasting and magazine publishing operations. EMMIS' 13 FM and 2 AM radio stations serve the markets of New York, Los Angeles and Chicago as well as St. Louis, Indianapolis and Terre Haute, IN. In addition, EMMIS owns two radio networks, seven television stations, regional and specialty magazines and ancillary businesses in broadcast sales and publishing.
