Miller Freeman Game Group Becomes CMP Game Media Group

Posted on March 8, 2000

Miller Freeman Game Group has announced that the group has adopted the CMP brand and will be known as the CMP Game Media Group. Miller Freeman acquired CMP Media last year, and chose to use the CMP brand for its high-tech business. Both CMP and Miller Freeman produce technology related integrated media products, including magazines, websites and tradeshows. The new CMP Game Media Group website will be www.cmpgame.com.

``The CMP name connotes hi-tech expertise,'' remarked Jennifer Pahlka, Director of the Game Media Group, ``and game developers operate on the bleeding edge of technology. The Game Developers Conference, Game Developer magazine, and Gamasutra.com have made the Miller Freeman brand well known in the entertainment software industry, but the new brand positions us well in the technology marketplace as games become as ubiquitous as the Internet. We will remain focused on serving the international game community as it prepares for continued growth, new platforms, and new ways of doing business.''

The CMP Game Media Group suite of game industry media offerings includes the GAMEXecutive Conference and the 14th annual Game Developers Conference. The group also produces the second annual GDC Independent Games Festival, and publishes Game Developer magazine, Gamasutra, a Game Developer Community site, and several CMP Game Media Research Reports. Additionally, the Computer Game Developers Association contracts the CMP Game Media Group as its management partner.
