Journal of Men's Health, a new peer-reviewed medical journal, will begin publication in January 2001, announced its publisher, Mary Ann Liebert, Inc. Targeted to clinicians, Journal of Men's Health, an interdisciplinary journal, will contain papers on prevention, diagnosis and therapy. Nominations are now being accepted for editor-in-chief.

``Gender-based medicine has come into its own,'' said Mary Ann Liebert, president of the privately-held publishing company. ``Men and women are different, and these differences are assuming greater importance as therapeutic options are considered in clinical care settings. Journal of Men's Health will be a significant contribution to the medical literature and will be widely read by physicians in many specialties."

Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., also publishes Journal of Women's Health and Gender-Based Medicine, which was established shortly after Congress funded the Women's Health Initiative at the National Institutes of Health; Bernadine P. Healy, former NIH director, served as editor-in-chief of Journal of Women's Health and Gender-Based Medicine after leaving NIH and now serves as editor emeritus.

Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, publishes peer-reviewed journals that include Journal of Palliative Medicine; Human Gene Therapy; Genetic Testing; Journal of Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology; Pediatric Asthma, Allergy, and Immunology, and AIDS Research and Human Retroviruses. The company also publishes Genetic Engineering News, which is the most widely-read biotechnology publication in the world.
