Drinks.com Website Launches

Posted on March 14, 2000

Drinks.com, an online destination for wine, spirits and beer products with delivery within 48 hours, has announced the official launch of its service in Illinois. The company plans to announce service in thirty additional states by the end of 2001. Drinks.com has an exclusive relationship with Drinks America, a network of brick-and-mortar retailers in each state to take and fulfill orders for Drinks.com.

``Unlike many wine-only Internet retailers, Drinks.com will tap into the entire United States wine, spirits and beer market, currently at $109 billion,'' says Louis Amoroso, president, Drinks.com. ``This represents a huge market opportunity, more than books and toys combined.''

Drinks.com also features an editorial section that provides articles and product reviews. Led by Jim Gordon, former managing editor of Wine Spectator magazine, Drinks.com provides news and feature articles, travel and nightlife ideas, party planning suggestions, meal matching tips and other editorial content.

``From recommending the bottles needed to stock a perfect bar, to explaining why certain red wines taste better in the winter, the Drinks.com editorial team gives visitors the unbiased story behind every bottle,'' says Jim Gordon, Editor-in-Chief. ``We have recruited some of the most talented writers in the business, and are committed to making Drinks.com a world class online resource.''
