Cybergrrl Founder Announces New Internet Venture

Aliza Sherman, founder and former President of Cybergrrl, Inc., has announced the start of her new Internet venture, Eviva, LLC which will shortly launch a preview of Eviva.net, a bilingual online network and marketplace for Hispanic women. In January 1995, Sherman founded the first woman-owned Internet marketing and online publishing company, Cybergrrl, Inc., building the first women's website. Sherman is also the author of the books Cybergrrl: A Woman's Guide to the World Wide Web (Feb 1998, Ballantine) and Cybergrrl at Work: Tips and Inspiration for the Professional You (Sep 2000, Penguin Putnam).

``Building community online and offline for women and helping them to integrate technology into their lives has been my mission for over seven years. But until now, I have not been able to integrate my professional passion with my personal heritage,'' says Sherman, who is of Mexican descent.

``Latinas make up 30% of over 7 million U.S. Hispanics online today. They are entering college, moving up the corporate ladder and starting businesses at an unprecedented rate. There have been no bilingual resources online that provide them with the information and connections they need professionally,'' says Sherman. ``Eviva.net will fill this gap for Latinas, both online and off, by focusing on the topics that matter to the 'new Latina' such as Business, Career, and Technology issues in addition to Health and Lifestyle articles.''

Eviva, LLC. was co-founded with Amy Ormond, who created the first online pharmacy for women in 1994. As a former marketing and communications executive, Ormond brings over ten years experience in marketing products and services to women as well as an expertise in online and offline business strategy for Internet companies.
