CampusVibe.com Launches

CampusVibe.com, an Internet site providing a video-intensive look at college life from the students themselves, launched on April 24. The content of CampusVibe.com includes sections on music, movies, sex, fashion, politics, ``bitch sessions,'' etc., and comes from both a local and national perspective. The site, which is focused towards the high speed and broadband enabled college audience, makes extensive use of Flash technology and delivers full motion video and audio using Real Player.

A staff of paid students and interns will provide new stories and features on a weekly basis. The self-produced and edited segments will cover various aspects of college life, from local artists to sports to nightlife to dating.

``This semester CampusVibe.com set up on-campus teams to document trends and happenings,'' said Michael Olsen, President of CampusVibe.com. ``The CampusVibe.com reporters and editors will stay on the pulse of where the pop culture and generational trends begin throughout the country, delivering the stories first from the audiences' own perspectives.''

``I think the site is amazing,'' said Alyson Wassler, who heads up the CambusVibe.com News Bureau at the University of Colorado. ``I enjoy the subject matters addressed on the site and I like the fact that so many schools are involved in the project. The most important aspect of the job for me is that it gives me an opportunity to be creative and not to be in an office setting.''

CampusVibe.com features a nationally relevant main site, with sub-sites focusing on the specific local color of 12 colleges or universities. By September, CampusVibe.com will have opened news bureaus and campus-specific sites over 150 schools nationally.

``Whether it's a bar band in Iowa or a nationally released film, CampusVibe.com aims to share the best of everything through its network of student contributors and capture the creativity and vibe of the individual campuses,'' said Phillip White, vice president of Content and Creative.
