Lightning Print Inc. Changes Name, Adds eBook Services

Reflecting its new direction, the company formerly known as Lightning Print Inc., a subsidiary of Ingram Industries Inc., unveiled a new name, Lightning Source, launched a new website, and announced the opening of expanded headquarters facilities in Tennessee. Lightning Source also announced a new suite of digital services designed to help publishers and booksellers deliver eBooks and other digital content. Lightning's print-on-demand operation will also be strengthened with an expanded suite of services and increased capacity.

Lightning also announced a new business alliance with Microsoft and its Microsoft Reader product for reading eBooks. By offering its titles in this format, Lightning's digital library will be more accessible to an increasing number of publishers, retailers and consumers. Lightning's new digital fulfillment system will offer publishers file conversion, archiving, and content delivery in multiple formats. Publishers will be able to access any or all of these services depending upon their individual needs.

``Whether it's printing one book at a time with our print-on-demand services or providing eBooks, our suite of digital services is the only source you need to tap into the power of digital content,'' said Lightning Source President and CEO Ed Marino. ``Once a publisher decides to submit a title into our digital library, we can handle the rest.''

Lightning Source, a subsidiary of Ingram Industries Inc., is a leader in the print-on-demand industry, having printed more than 800,000 books for more than 500 publishers around the world. The company stores books and other information electronically and delivers them ``on demand'' in either traditional printed format or soon, as eBooks, in response to orders from booksellers, librarians and publishers.
