Enterprise Linux Magazine is the 16th magazine to be added to 101's roster since the company was established in 1998. Previously published as a quarterly supplement to several 101communications publications including ENT, MIDRANGE Systems and Application Development Trends, the monthly magazine will be built around an editorial mission to educate and inform readers about the emergence of Linux as a viable enterprise operating system. Drawing from real world applications, Enterprise Linux Magazine will feature case histories, technology white papers, and columns written by experts and academicians as well as news and product information. Jeffrey S. Klein, 101 president and chief operating officer, said the decision to go monthly was based on the growing demand by IT professionals for expertise on the expanding Linux market, coupled with the company's commitment to provide a forum and voice for Linux in the enterprise marketplace. ``Our editorial focus is to explore Linux issues from a revolutionary vantage point -- as an enterprise operating system,'' said Klein. ``We know serious IT professionals are hungry for resources on the evolution of Linux as an operating system into the enterprise. As proof, in just one quarter, we saw the number of pages double in our supplement. With a controlled circulation of 100,000, the magazine will be managed by Gene Pritchard, who will join 101communications as Group Publisher on June 15. Pritchard most recently served as Group Publisher at Advanstar Communications overseeing Post, NewTekniques and Cadalyst magazines. Enterprise Linux Magazine's editorial staff will remain under Editor-in-Chief Charlie Simpson. Effective in August, the magazine's website will feature enhanced capabilities such as a monthly email newsletter, chat sessions and interactive dialogue with readers. In conjunction with the launch of the monthly Enterprise Linux Magazine, 101communications also announced plans to establish The Enterprise Linux Institute as a separate division, providing education and training.
