MediaBay, Inc. and iUniverse.com Enter Marketing and Content Alliance

MediaBay, Inc., a provider of spoken-word audio content and products, has announced an exclusive content and marketing alliance with iUniverse.com, an ebook publisher. Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly develop and publish selected audiobooks. iUniverse.com will promote MediaBay's content and products to the visitors of its site through a co-branded section created exclusively for MediaBay. In turn, MediaBay will use and promote iUniverse.com's publishing program.

The companies have agreed to create an audio imprint to develop select audio versions of books from the new and out-of-print authors that iUniverse.com publishes. MediaBay will promote these new audiobooks, as well as other digital and print books published by iUniverse.com, in both physical and downloadable formats.

``The strategic partnership with iUniverse.com serves two purposes,'' said Michael Herrick, CEO of MediaBay, Inc. ``First, it's part of a series of agreements designed to expand our marketing reach and revenues among consumers with an affinity for purchasing spoken word products. Second, iUniverse.com will be a source of exciting original content for our customers. iUniverse.com already produces original digital and print books and we look forward to developing the most successful ones into new audiobooks in both physical and downloadable formats.''

``This alliance is extremely exciting to us because it represents a whole new way for people to start thinking about publishing,'' said Richard Tam, CEO of iUniverse.com. ``We're really talking about going well beyond e-books to many kinds of digital content management that will be available in any form and at any time.''
