Thursday, June 15, 2000 Media Cynic | Forum | Advertising | Classifieds | Jobs MSNBC.com Partners With Pioneer Newspapers to Deliver Local News The partnership between Pioneer Newspapers and MSNBC.com marks the first time the MSNBC.com affiliate network has incorporated local print reporting into its content offerings. The announcement was made today by Uli Haller, MSNBC.com manager, local affiliate program. ``MSNBC.com is partnering with Pioneer Newspapers to deliver localized news to a nationwide audience,'' said Haller. ``The deal with Pioneer marks the first time we have partnered with local print outlets and extends MSNBC.com's reach into smaller communities providing first-time coverage from these markets.'' ``We believe that the non-exclusive partnership with MSNBC benefits both companies. By providing MSNBC with local stories each day, our web sites should gain additional traffic through the branded link without undermining our basic franchise of providing all of the news and information in our communities,'' said David Lord, president of Pioneer Newspapers, Inc. ``Revenue sharing possibilities also exist with this arrangement and we benefit by having MSNBC content on our sites.'' Pioneer Newspapers, Inc. is a family owned company headquartered in Seattle, Washington. Pioneer is the majority owner of daily newspapers in Klamath Falls, Oregon; Logan, Utah; Nampa, Idaho; Pocatello, Idaho; Bozeman, Montana; Havre, Montana; and Ellensburg, Washington, as well as weekly publications in Lakeview, Oregon; Emmett, Idaho; Big Sky, Montana; and West Yellowstone, Montana.
