Borders Partners with Centerseat to Add Video Content

Borders, a book, music and video retailer, has announced the launch Borders Vision, an entertainment experience that brings in-store events to its customers. Borders Vision, which was created in conjunction with global media company Centerseat, Inc., is the latest in a series of initiatives supporting the company's retail convergence strategy.

Borders Vision features an integrated platform to give customers the opportunity to view programming tailored to their interests and watch in-store events and other original productions without leaving the Borders Vision site. Borders Vision is organized into six channels and programming is presented on a scheduled, as well as on-demand, basis. Channels include: Books, Music, Movies, Living, Kids and Specials.

Early Borders Vision episodes, available now using streaming video technologies, include: an interview with John Travolta that took place at Borders in Ann Arbor, Mich.; a tribute to Harry Potter from a Borders store event in New Jersey that featured an appearance by author J.K. Rowling; an interview with newswoman and author Lesley Stahl; a one-on-one discussion with actor Michael Douglas; a step-by-step recipe for Long Island Duck, described and demonstrated by Chef George; and an in-store performance by jazz pianist Marian McPartland who appeared at Borders in downtown Washington, D.C. Upcoming additions to the line-up will include a special reading and online presentation of Curious George and a collection of events surrounding the Dalai Lama's recent visit to the U.S. for a series of teachings.

``Through our partnership with Centerseat, Borders Vision allows us the valuable opportunity to further our convergence strategy in a dynamic fashion, delivering one of the most compelling, ambient aspects of our stores -- local events -- to our global online customer base,'' said Mary Jean Raab, senior vice president, direct retail and convergence for Borders.
