Xlibris Acquires Online Writing Community

Xlibris has announced that it has acquired Inkspot, an online writer's community and resource. Inkspot will become a part of the Xlibris website. Xlibris is a Philadelphia-based publishing services provider.

Random House Ventures, acquired a 49% ownership in Xlibris earlier this year. Two Random House Ventures executives also joined Xlibris' board. Random House Ventures, L.L.C. is the newly formed investment and strategic partnership subsidiary of Random House, Inc., a trade book publisher and a unit of the Book division of Bertelsmann AG.

``We are excited to welcome Inkspot to the Xlibris family,'' says John Feldcamp, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Xlibris. ``In this rapidly changing publishing environment, we are proud to align Xlibris with a company that operates based on the same principles and objectives that we define ourselves by each day.''

``The partnership is going to be hugely beneficial to the Inkspot writing community,'' says Debbie Ridpath Ohi, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Inkspot. ``Xlibris brings the technology and online infrastructure that will allow us to expand and enhance our resources and services to writers.''

Inkspot has been providing online information and community services for writers since 1995. Inkspot also offers Inklings, a weekly email newsletter for writers, distributed to nearly 50,000 members every two weeks. Xlibris, an ebook and print-on-demand publisher, provides book design, publishing and community services for writers.
