San Francisco Edition of Mercury News Hits Stands

Posted on July 28, 2000

The Mercury News has delivered its first San Francisco edition. The Mercury News will be available at nearly 500 locations in San Francisco.

``The San Francisco edition of the Mercury News offers a new choice for readers who told us they want it all. Each day readers will get our award-winning business and technology coverage, San Francisco and regional news, sports and expanded entertainment listings, and a sophisticated report on state, national and global affairs,'' said Jay T. Harris, publisher of the Mercury News.

The San Francisco initiative is headquartered in an expanded Mercury News Bureau in downtown San Francisco. The addition of the new San Francisco edition means the Mercury News now publishes seven separate daily and Sunday editions: San Francisco; San Mateo; Peninsula; Valley; South Valley; Alameda; and Coast. The move to San Francisco follows the Mercury News' expansion of business coverage this year to include new bureaus in Seattle and New York.
