Posted on August 7, 2000

Access Internet Magazine, an magazine about the Internet, is launching a companion website. Access Magazine, which has partnered with U.S. newspapers for delivery, claims to have over 13 million readers. Access provides answers and explanations on how the Web works, analysis of Web and Internet technology and website reviews.

The site, accessmagazine.com, builds on the stories and reviews in each week's issue of the magazine with original online content including additional site reviews, web tips, interactive Q&A; Internet news; and ``In Focus'' a daily report that analyzes and explains the impact on the average Web user of industry news and trends. Issues of Access Magazine will be also archived on the website.

Accessmagazine.com launches with a searchable database of more than 3000 sites reviewed by Access Magazine, and by the end of the year expects to have more than 5000. Between the magazine and website, 50 to 70 new sites will be reviewed weekly and rated up to 4 A (for Access) icons. Sites rating 4As are also given special recognition. Other launch content includes the ``E-newsletter,'' a weekly news roundup and a look at the Internet events expected in the week ahead, free e-mail, message boards and business-to-consumer auctions.

``While most Internet-focused content sites target users with highly technical backgrounds or those with financial interests in the Internet, accessmagazine.com has been developed for average users, making the Web easier to use and helping them understand how and when emerging technologies will impact their lives,'' says accessmagazine.com Senior Vice President and Publisher Larry Sanders. ``The site delivers a tremendous amount of easily-navigable information presented in a logical and innovative style using 'plain language,' clearly-defined sections and readily understandable graphics.''
