Jill Seelig Named Publisher of O, The Oprah Magazine

Posted on August 9, 2000

Hearst Magazines President Cathleen P. Black has announced that Jill Seelig has been promoted to publisher of O, The Oprah Magazine, the co-venture between Harpo Entertainment Group and Hearst Magazines. Seelig previously served as advertising director of the title since its launch in April.

Seelig will report to Anne Sutherland Fuchs, Hearst Magazines' senior vice president and group publishing director. She succeeds Alyce Alston, who has left the company to become publisher of Fairchild Publications' W magazine.

Commenting on the appointment, Black said: ``Jill has been an integral part of O's outstanding ad performance and I know that she will take the magazine to even higher levels. Her advertising experience at several magazines will mean more great things for this magazine.''

Seelig joined O in April from Vanity Fair, where she served as advertising director since 1998. Prior to that, Seelig worked at Self for five years where she was national sales manager in 1996, beauty director from 1994 to 1995, and began as an advertising sales representative in 1993. Seelig also spent nearly three years as an advertising sales representative at New York magazine.
