Simon & Schuster Launches Ebook Only Star Trek Series

Simon & Schuster has announced that their Pocket Books division has launched a new Star Trek series to be published exclusively in electronic format. The first title in the series, Star Trek S.C.E. Book One: The Belly of the Beast -- written by Dean Wesley Smith, is available now. The new series will be offered first in Microsoft Reader format as part of a special promotional, and then become available on other eBook platforms.

The eBook-only series, called Star Trek S.C.E., features the original adventures of the Starfleet Corps of Engineers. Their motto: Have Tech. Will Travel. It represents the first time that content from Star Trek has been published electronically without a prior or simultaneous print publication.

Judith Curr, President of Pocket Books said, ``We are thrilled to present this exciting new Star Trek eBook series. Our Star Trek titles are the most successful series in both electronic and traditional publishing, and offering Star Trek S.C.E. exclusively to eBook readers is a perfect match of form and content for this expanding market.''

The next two adventures in the Star Trek S.C.E. series are scheduled for release in September and October. More information about Star Trek can be found on the official Internet home of Star Trek at http://www.startrek.com.
