iPublish.com Taps Bookface.com to Display Titles

Posted on August 21, 2000

iPublish.com, the electronic publishing division recently launched by Time Warner Trade Publishing, has announced that readers will be able to view many of its titles directly on the Internet at Bookface.com. iPublish.com at Time Warner Books will launch as an online publishing site in the first quarter of next year.

Bookface has built a technology solution for securely displaying valuable content on the Internet. Under the agreement, iPublish.com has licensed Bookface.com full book content from Time Warner Trade Publishing's backlist. Representing a wide range of genres, including science fiction, mystery, and romance, the agreement includes titles by prominent authors such as Alan Deane Foster, Joe Lansdale, and Rosalyn McMillan. Nonfiction books, such as business and travel books, are also included under the agreement.

``iPublish.com is committed to using the Internet to connect readers and authors in new and exciting ways, and Bookface.com perfectly meets that goal,'' said Gregory Voynow, senior vice president and general manager of iPublish.com. ``Bookface.com's unique business model is a win-win for all parties involved: publishers, authors, and readers. It's an especially strong opportunity for certain kinds of genre fiction that might get overlooked in traditional ebook channels.''

Using Bookface.com's streaming text technology, users will be able to read these selected titles for free in an ad-supported environment. In exchange, iPublish will receive a percentage of the ad revenues, based on how many banners are displayed during a reader's stay.

``iPublish is being very innovative by using technology and the Internet to develop new publishing opportunities. Bookface is excited to be a part of their vision,'' said Tammy Deuster, CEO and co-founder of Bookface. ``By displaying quality books online, Bookface is expanding the possibilities of the Internet.''

Update: The iPublish and Bookface websites are no longer available.
