TeenInk Expands Website

Posted on August 21, 2000

TeenInk, a publisher of teen writing and art, has launched an expanded website, including more than 12,000 original works by teens. With its companion print magazine and book, TeenInk.com uses the Web to help connect teens for discussion of current issues. TeenInk.com also provides links to hundreds of approved teen-friendly resources.

``It's hard to describe how good it feels when you realize that someone across the country is dealing with the exact same thing as you. TeenInk does that for me,'' said teenager Merrell Hambleton of Bedford, N.Y.

``TeenInk is solid, lively and extremely candid. The writing is first-rate and fills an important need,'' said author Jonathan Kozol. Former Presidential candidate Michael Dukakis said, ``I've had the pleasure of working with TeenInk for the past decade, and I can't think of anything that does a better job of confirming the power and promise of teen voices.''

TeenInk has no staff writers -- all the editorial comes directly from its readers. More than 300,000 teens already have submitted their work to TeenInk, and over 25,000 teens have been published in the magazine and on the Web.

TeenInk is a national teen magazine, book and website featuring teen writing, information, art, photos, poetry, teen issues and more. All articles are written by teenage authors who are students at K-12 schools. Since 1989, teens have submitted their writing, art and photography for publication in TeenInk's national print magazine published by the nonprofit Young Authors Foundation. Today over 1.5 million copies are distributed in 4,500 classrooms around the country.
