Tech Journalists to Gather At SABEW Workshop in California

The Society of American Business Editors and Writers will hold its fourth annual Technology Reporting Conference in Irvine, Calif., on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 16-17. Top technology-company executives scheduled to speak during the conference include Irwin Jacobs, chief executive officer of wireless technology leader Qualcomm Inc.; Henry Nicholas III, chief executive officer of communications chip specialists Broadcom Corp.; and Jeffrey Weitzen, chief executive officer of computer maker Gateway Inc.

Members of the Society attending the workshop at the Hyatt Regency Irvine will also participate in sessions on biotech's reemergence, the business of video games, and computer security issues. In addition, conferees plan to tour the chip-making plant of Conexant Systems Inc. in Newport Beach, Calif. Details about the contest can be found on SABEW's website.

SABEW, with headquarters at the University of Missouri School of Journalism in Columbia, is an association of more than 3,000 business and financial journalists in North America. It was formed in 1964 to promote superior coverage of business and economic events and issues.
