Travelocity.com Unveils Travelocity Magazine

Travelocity.com, an online travel destination, unveiled the first issue of Travelocity Magazine at a launch event in Dallas, Texas. The new, bi-monthly magazine will hit national newsstands on September 5, 2000.

``Travelocity Magazine is a logical extension of the Travelocity.com brand, bringing travel planning, travel-related content and technology to our Web savvy customers,'' said Terrell B. Jones, president and chief executive officer of Travelocity.com. ``We are already a force in the online publishing and advertising marketplace, and now American Airlines Publishing has helped produce a quality first-run magazine for the physical world. We are looking forward to providing consumers with a unique, innovative national travel magazine.''

Travelocity Magazine is a result of a partnership between Travelocity.com and American Airlines Publishing. The publication aims to enhance readers' travel knowledge, helping them better utilize Travelocity.com's products and features. Additionally, the magazine will provide leisure and business travelers with destination information and travel tips, as well as news about online developments and innovations. It also will provides features about interesting travel destinations. The magazine will retail on newsstands for $3.95 and is available by subscription for $14.95 through the Travelocity.com site.

``Our goal was to introduce the first travel magazine that merges the personality of print with the power of the Web,'' said Rick Morrison, publisher of Travelocity Magazine. ``We'll go beyond showcasing destinations -- we will offer the tips and tools to take you there.''

Morrison noted that articles in the first issue reference more than 100 links to related websites, which provide more information and a deeper perspective on the subject. Robert Draper, GQ staff writer; Ron Geraci, features editor for Men's Health; Geoff Norman, author and contributor to Men's Health and Forbes FYI; Ken McAlpine, contributor to Sports Illustrated and Outside; and Jack Bouleware, author and contributor to British Esquire, are a few of the writers slated to have stories in the premiere issue.
