101Communications to Acquire FCW Government Technology Group

101communications, a business-to-business technology media company, has announced its agreement to acquire FCW Government Technology Group, Inc., publisher of Federal Computer Week, a publication for the U.S. government information technology market. The deal is expected to close by the end of September. The transaction also includes FCW's FCW.com website and civic.com magazine and the company's events, including the Government CIO Summit series and the Federal 100 awards gala. 101 acquired FCW from International Data Group (IDG), a Boston-based technology media company.

``The $100 billion U.S. public sector IT market is a critical vertical segment to add to our growing base of highly focused technology publications, websites and conferences. We are delighted with this acquisition of the market leader in advertising revenue, audience and editorial quality and innovation in print, online and events,'' said 101 Chairman Curt Hessler. ``FCW will provide our customers with an expanding portfolio of integrated marketing opportunities.''

``We're excited by the prospect of joining the 101 team and working together to cement our preeminent position in public sector IT media,'' said Edith Holmes, FCW's president and CEO. ``I expect Federal Computer Week and all the FCW properties will make a very positive addition to 101's vertical strategy.''

FCW was founded by IDG in 1987. Together, Federal Computer Week and civic.com reach 148,000 subscribers in federal, state and local governments and the IT industry supporting them.
