Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel Names Nancy Telliho Publisher

Nancy Telliho was named publisher, Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel magazine, it was announced by Newsweek Chairman and Editor-In-Chief Richard M. Smith and President and Chief Operating Officer Harold Shain. Newsweek acquired Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel in December 1999 from Group XXVII Communications L.L.C., through its wholly owned subsidiary, Newsweek Budget Travel, Inc.

Telliho, who will report to Shain, succeeds Jake Hill, a cofounder of the magazine who recently left. She joins Budget Travel in October. As Budget Travel Publisher, Telliho will be primarily responsible for setting the strategic business vision of the magazine and overseeing all of the magazine's business departments. Telliho has been Newsweek's New York sales manager since July 1998. Before joining Newsweek in 1991, she served as promotion manager at Parents magazine and marketing manager at Adweek magazine.

In making the announcement, Shain said: ``During her years at Newsweek, Nancy has demonstrated her ability to manage and build a cohesive team. Nancy's enthusiasm, energy and professionalism will be a great asset to Budget Travel magazine.''

Launched in February 1998 by well-known travel writer Arthur Frommer and magazine industry veteran Donald E. Welsh, Budget Travel gained instant recognition. Launched as a quarterly, Budget Travel is now published bimonthly with a circulation of 350,000.
