Frankfurt eBook Awards Finalists Announced

The International eBook Award Foundation has announced the finalists for Frankfurt eBook Awards. The finalists were announced by Alberto Vitale, the Chairman of the International eBook Award Foundation. Alberto Vitale is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Random House, Inc., having served in that position from 1989 to 1998.

The finalists include:

Morgan's Run by Colleen McCullough (Simon & Schuster)
Paradise Square by E. M. Schorb (Denlingers Publishers Ltd.)

Converted Fiction
Bee Season by Myla Goldberg (Doubleday)

Original Non-Fiction
Nothing Like It in the World by Stephen Ambrose (Simon & Schuster)

Converted Non-Fiction
Mozart by Peter Gray (Penguin Putnam)

The International eBook Award Foundation was created to be the administrator of the eBook awards. The Foundation and the awards are underwritten in this inaugural year with support from the Microsoft Corporation, NuvoMedia Inc., Softbook Press Inc., Glassbook Inc., and Contentville. An international panel of judges will determine the winning entries. The grand prize for the best original eBook is $100,000. Other prizes for individual categories are $10,000.

The Frankfurt eBook Awards will be presented for the first time during the Frankfurt Book Fair in October 2000. The mission of these annual Awards is to recognize excellence in eBooks, reaching new and larger audiences with the electronically presented book. The awards will be presented to the winning authors with recognition to their publishers at an Award Ceremony during the International Book Fair.
