On October 30th, The Hollywood Reporter will launch The
Hollywood Reporter-East, a hybrid electronic-print entertainment
news product. In a visual replica of the trade's print edition,
THR-East will deliver industry news to East Coast entertainment
and media professionals every business day. The Hollywood
Reporter will deliver the publication via emailed
Adobe Acrobat Reader files.
THR-East is a full-color graphics, condensed version of The Hollywood Reporter's daily print edition edited for East Coast readers. THR-East's electronic delivery means that it can include late-breaking West-Coast stories, unlike its print competition that must close hours earlier to meet press deadlines. ``The Hollywood Reporter has embraced technology to create a product that combines the speed and efficiency of electronic distribution with the advantages of print, which is the ability to read a paper in a familiar format that you can hold in your hand,'' said editor-in-chief and publisher Robert J. Dowling. ``As information providers, it is our job to serve our readers in the best possible way. I believe that we have now achieved this goal in the competitive New York and East Coast markets where timely, accurate news, analysis and information are critical to success in this business.'' Along with news coverage, THR-East will contain columns written by The Hollywood Reporter's New York editors and reporters on topics such as Wall Street, independent film, network TV, media, advertising and publishing. THR-East will also include Broadway coverage, reviews of New York stage plays and a daily calendar of New York events. The Hollywood Reporter is published by Netherlands-based VNU, an organization of entertainment-related publications and services.
