McMurry Newsletters, the division of the McMurry family of companies that publishes business-to-business subscription newsletters, has announced it has acquired the assets of New York-based Copy Editor newsletter. Subtitled "Language News for the Publishing Profession," Copy Editor has been published six times a year since its inception ten years ago, when the newsletter was launched by Mary Beth Protomastro, then a copy editor for McCall's magazine.

Chris McMurry, chief executive officer of the McMurry companies, says in a statement, "The newsletter's leading position in its niche and loyal subscriber base of traditional publishing professionals and corporate marketers make it a good strategic and financial complement."

Jeffrey McQuain, Ph.D., has been recruited to succeed Protomastro as editor. He is the author of three books on language, including Never Enough Words (Random House, 1999); an international lecturer; and a contributor and commentator for newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Newsweek and Glamour.

Publications Management is the other newsletter offered by McMurry Newsletters. It is a twice-monthly started last summer to provide strategies for custom publishing to corporate marketers and other professionals charged with spearheading corporate publications.
