Fivash Launches California Business Magazine and Website

Posted on November 17, 2000

Fivash Media Group, publisher of Washington CEO, has launched a new monthly business magazine aimed at entertaining and educating business leaders in California. California CEO, FMG's new publication, debuts in early November 2000 and reaches a controlled circulation of 75,000.

Each issue promises to capture the pulse of the Golden State's businesses by covering the state's people, industries, trends, issues, and regions. For its premiere, California CEO features Hewlett-Packard CEO and Chairman Carly Fiorina, who's been at the helm of the computer company for over a year. The Fiorina cover story takes a look at how the CEO is changing things at HP. Other stories in the premiere issue: Advice on how to deal with a visit from Cal-OSHA; an update on Boeing, one of the largest employers in the state; and how to use a little bit of humor in your business.

``Particularly, as our masthead says, we will emphasize the people -- California's CEOs,'' says Publisher Scott Fivash. ``After all, behind every business there is a personality. And since California encompasses almost 160,000 square miles, you should expect to read in California CEO of people and businesses that are as diverse as the state's topography and climate.''

``We all, as CEOs, presidents, or managers of whatever size business, large or small, face many of the same decisions as does the next CEO, president or manager,'' says Fivash. ``And most of the decisions we make must be made with less than perfect information. Not anymore. California CEO will strive to fill in some of those information gaps and present some of the strategic thinking you are looking for to help you run your company more successfully.''

Scott Fivash, the magazine's publisher and owner of Fivash Media Group, is a native of California. He has a long history of publishing and has owned and published Washington CEO for the last 10 years. Leading California CEO's editorial department out of the Fremont office is Managing Editor Alastair Goldfisher, who was previously at the San Jose Business Journal. Heading up sales out of San Diego is Associate Publisher Sara Wilensky, who was most recently at the San Diego Daily Transcript.
