Universal Map Enterprises, Inc. a publisher and distributor of geographic information, announced the acquisition of The National Survey, Inc. The 88-year old operations in the Chester, Vermont location will be continued with plans for development, headed by Universal Map's James Shillabeer. Jane von Mehren has been named Editor in Chief of Penguin Books. In this capacity von Mehren will oversee the editorial direction and shape of the Penguin trade paperback list and the execution of the Penguin publishing program. She will continue as Associate Publisher.
