Hearst Magazines and Dow Jones & Company, joint venture partners in SmartMoney, announced that Christopher L. San Francisco Chronicle executive editor Phil Bronstein has announced that Chris Matthews has become a national columnist for The Chronicle. Matthews will write a Sunday column for The Chronicle, and will report breaking news stories and contribute regularly to the Chronicle Magazine. Matthews, 55, a nationally syndicated columnist for the San Francisco Examiner for 13 years, has developed a high media profile as the fast-talking host of the MSNBC show Hardball with Chris Matthews. Belo has announced that Daniel J. Blizzard has been named vice president/Operations, effective January 1, 2001. Blizzard is currently director of procurement for Belo's flagship newspaper, The Dallas Morning News, a position he has held since May 1999. In his new role, Blizzard will be responsible for several operations duties including procurement and facilities. He will report to Dunia A. Shive, Belo's executive vice president and chief financial officer. Bruce Chizen, 45, has been named chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors for Adobe Systems Incorporated, it was announced by John Warnock, Adobe chairman and former CEO.
