Well and Healthy Woman Magazine Launches

Posted on December 15, 2000

Food Sciences Corporation has announced the launch of Well and Healthy Woman, a new online magazine and forum for women worried about the weight issues that often come with post-pregnancy and midlife. Well and Healthy Woman is a non-threatening place where women can tune into the voices of other women, and learn from experts on various subjects, says Debra Levine, the magazine's editor. The magazine debuted in October and will publish 11 times during 2001.

``We're not out to lecture women or send out unrealistic messages about body and weight issues,'' says Levine. ``We want to keep things simple and sensible for our readers. And if we can do that, then we'll be fulfilling our mission.''

Contributors to the magazine, which accepts no advertising and endorses no specific products, include psychologists, nutritionists, fitness experts and essayists. Some recent contributors include Dr. Ann Kearney-Cook, director of the Cincinnati Psychotherapy Institute, fitness expert Grace DeSimone, co-director of programming for Plus One Fitness in New York City, and essayist Sally Friedman, whose work has appeared in the New York Times, Family Circle and Ladies Home Journal.

The new online publication also allows readers to listen in to other women's voices, particularly about weight struggles. Daily motivational quotes and a food-of-the-day feature, including recipes, are also part of the format.
