Obadiah Press Launches Christian Magazine

Posted on January 11, 2001

It was a moment of divine intervention that inspired Springdale businesswoman LaDonna Meredith to launch Obadiah, a new Christian magazine. One day, Meredith noticed her Bible lying on her bed and opened to the Book of Obadiah, a name meaning "servants of the Lord." From that, her idea for a Christian press that could make a difference for writers and readers was born.

The magazine, which is co-owned by Tina L. Miller of Merrill, WI, is the first venture from the start-up company. Obadiah magazine, launched January 15, puts a different spin on traditional information. "Obadiah is designed to help today's Christian integrate beliefs with a modern lifestyle," says Meredith. "It's about being a strong Christian in a fast-moving world."

The premiere issue covers such topics as "101 Ways to Serve the Lord in 2001," "Logging On To God," and "Behind Bars with Jesus." A number of Christian writers contributed articles to the first issue, including Tina L. Miller, Diane Allen, Healey Tonsing, Michelle Pearson, among others. Meredith says the content of the magazine is designed to reach a broad audience. "Our readers are Christian writers and musicians, artists, carpenters, ministers and laypeople -- anyone and everyone who truly believes in living to serve God."

Obadiah Press, the parent company for the magazine, will be launching a book-publishing arm in the spring. The website features daily devotionals, online courses, previews of book releases, writer's conference information, Christian organization links and more.

LaDonna Meredith is the owner and executive editor of Obadiah Press and Obadiah Magazine. She is a wife and the mother of two small children and lives with her family in Springdale, ARK. Employed full-time as a pastor's assistant at Lake Hills Church in Fayetteville, ARK, she is also the owner of Heavenly Gardens Floral Designs, and of "The WritingMom.Com," a website that will cater to mothers who are actively pursing a writing career.
