LookSmart Signs Subsite Listings Deal With Amazon.com

LookSmart, a provider of Web directories, announced that it has signed a Subsite Listings deal with Amazon.com, to promote product categories through LookSmart directory links and keyword searches. Under the agreement, LookSmart will create Subsite Listings that will enable searchers to connect to commerce areas within Amazon.com's website.

``Amazon.com strives to be the ecommerce destination where consumers can find and discover anything they want to buy online,'' said Owen Van Natta, vice president of business development at Amazon.com. ``One of the ways we can achieve this is by utilizing LookSmart Subsite Listings, which help make it easier for customers to find exactly what they are looking for.''

The program will link customers to many of Amazon's product categories, including its book, music and video/DVD categories, as well as its consumer electronics, kitchen supplies, lawn & patio, wireless phones, tools & hardware, camera, and software stores. Introduced in the third quarter of 2000, LookSmart Subsite Listings have been adopted by several online direct marketers including eBay, VerticalNet, DealTime, CNET's mySimon, Hearst Publications' women.com, and now Amazon.com.
