New Magazine Targeted to Busy Boomers

Susie Levan has announced the launch of Living in Balance magazine. The magazine will be targeted to busy baby boomers. The idea for the publication came to her from watcher her baby boomer friends struggle with the conflicting demands of business, relationships, family, personal health and community involvement.

``We boomers face incredible, unrelenting stress in every aspect of our lives, and we're dealing with information overload as well,'' said Levan, a former Coral Gables financial executive. ``To help this busy, successful group in its quest for self-development and personal growth, we have launched living in balance, the magazine for health, wealth and happiness. Our writers provide straightforward, expert and motivational solutions to the most pressing issues facing boomers, ages 35-55.''

This issue's cover story features an interview with Good Morning America co-host Joan Lunden, author of Wake Up Calls, in which she shares her personal strategies for obtaining balance despite a high-pressure job and parental responsibilities. Tips on personal partnerships are found in the interview with best-selling author don Miguel Ruiz, who talks about his new book, A Practical Guide to the Art of Relationships, The Mastery of Love. Alternatives to a frantic lifestyle are presented by author Joan Borysenko, in ``Inner Peace for Busy People.''

A 40,000 initial printing is distributed at key locations in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. The 48-page January/February issue is presented on a glossy stock. Future plans call for four-color throughout the publication and more pages, the publisher said. The premiere issue launched in November. Levan said that response from national and regional advertisers ``has been gratifying.'' Health, hospitality, retail, luxury products and business services are represented.

A former chief operating officer of a public investment company, Levan has been teaching, writing, and sharing in the fields of stress management and balance for the past 12 years. She is the founder of the Women's Wisdom Circle and The Sanctuary, a Place to Heal the Heart Within, a center for self-enrichment and personal growth, in Ft. Lauderdale.
