Atomic Dog Acquires CourseWise's Textbook Program

Posted on February 7, 2001

Atomic Dog Publishing, Inc. announced that it has acquired the textbook publishing program and related assets of CourseWise, Inc. of St. Paul, Minnesota. As part of the transaction, key executives from CourseWise will be joining Atomic Dog as employees. In addition, Atomic Dog will expand its editorial operations to CourseWise's locations in St. Paul, MN, Madison, WI, and Dubuque, IA.

``Given the ambitious plans we had for our textbook program, we knew we couldn't do it alone,'' said CourseWise's CEO, Tom Doran. ``We talked to a number of potential partners, but once discussions started with Atomic Dog we knew what to do. It was abundantly clear that Atomic Dog was aggregating the talent and the resources to be the premier new media publisher in higher education. We simply wanted to be a part of it.''

Alex von Rosenberg, founder and CEO of Atomic Dog said, ``What we like about the CourseWise team and the acquired textbooks is their fit with our mission. That is, taking the best of what traditional publishing was -- great people and great ideas -- and liberating those people to use the technologies available today to build better content, better products, and better value. Beyond the textbook assets, the CourseWise principals bring tremendous experience in Social Science publishing and production competencies across all disciplines.''
