1stBooks Reports Increase in Title Submissions

Posted on February 9, 2001

Robert McCormack, COO of 1stBooks Library, a publisher of print-on-demand books and ebooks, announced that the company accepted more than 600 title submissions in January, 2001. This was a 320% increase in titles from January 2000 and the Company's most successful month since inception in 1997.

The Company estimates that it will print more than 500,000 books in 2001 with resulting revenue projected to exceed $10 million. In 2000, 1stBooks printed over 150,000 books. Competitors to 1stBooks include Xlibris and iUnverse.com.

McCormack says in a statement, "Although we are pleased with the numbers, it would be false to say that they came as a surprise. 1stBooks offers an unparalleled service to the reading public as an avenue to find new and interesting authors outside of the mainstream. It goes without saying that our authors know that their material is worthy of being published, yet do not want to deal with the loss of creative control that frequently occurs in the established, marketing driven publishing world."

1stBooks Library was established in 1997 and is based in Bloomington, Indiana. The company also claims to have over 6,000 published authors in its system.
