The store allows customers to purchase software programs and download them directly to their computers. The retailer also sells boxed software products. EP&P magazine, a Cahners Business Information publication, has named Greg Reed as its new editorial director. Formerly the chief editor of SMT magazine, Reed has over 14 years of technical editorial experience in the electronics manufacturing industry. EP&P, a Cahners Business Information publication, reaches over 38,000 engineering managers each month. EP&P covers electronics manufacturing from packaging to assembly -- providing technical and business information for engineering managers. The New York Times Company announced that Janet L. Robinson has been named to the newly created position of senior vice president, newspaper operations, effective immediately. In this role, Ms. Robinson will lead the operations of all of the Company's newspaper properties, which include The New York Times, The Boston Globe and 15 other newspapers. Ms. Robinson, who retains her position as president and general manager of The New York Times newspaper, will report to Russell T. Lewis, president and chief executive officer of The New York Times Company, with an additional reporting relationship to Arthur Sulzberger, Jr. in his role as publisher of The New York Times. Richard H. Gilman, publisher of the The Boston Globe, and Lynn O. Matthews, president and chief operating officer of the Regional Newspaper Group, will both report to Ms. Robinson. CMI Holdings Group Inc., formerly known as The Comicstore.com Inc. has retained the Lebrecht Group as their SEC law firm. The Lebrecht Group will be assisting the company in obtaining fully reporting status with the SEC through either a Form 10SB filing, or a merger with a fully reporting company, which will allow CMI Holdings to assume and maintain an OTC reporting status. TheComicStore.com is the Internet spin-off of Comics & Comix, the fourth largest comic book chain in the United States, which was founded in 1972. BET.com LLC has changed its name to BET Interactive to more accurately reflect its position in the management and development of multiple Interactive properties, including the African American website, BET.com, and the recently acquired 360hiphop.com, a website for hip-hop music, lifestyle, news, culture and politics. BET.com was launched in February, 2000 and acquired 360hiphop.com in October, 2000. BET Interactive will oversee the operation of both independent websites. American Lawyer Media, Inc. (ALM), a legal journalism and information company, announced the launch of the Rhode Island Law Tribune, a new weekly newspaper for the more than 5,000 members of the state's legal community, including lawyers, judges and law students. Half.com, an eBay company, announced that Powell's Books, an independent bookseller, is adding its inventory of new, used, and out-of-print titles to Half.com's product listings. Founded in July 1999, Half.com's marketplace includes books, CDs, movies and video games. Half.com is one of the most visited shopping sites on the Internet, and offers more than ten million items for sale. Vibe/Spin Ventures, the publisher of the music magazines Vibe and Spin -- announced that it has named former Playboy Enterprises Publishing Division President Alex Mironovich as Chief Executive Officer. Robert Miller, current CEO of Vibe/Spin Ventures and Miller Publishing Group, will become Chairman of Vibe/Spin Ventures. Previously, Mironovich was Group Publisher for Better Homes and Gardens, Mature Outlook and Northwest Traveler, at Meredith Corp., and Publisher of YM Magazine, a Gruner + Jahr USA publication. Business 2.0 announced that business journalism veteran William J. Holstein has joined the magazine's staff as editor at large. Holstein, 49, who will work out of Business 2.0's New York office, has more than 25 years of business journalism experience. Most recently, he served as senior writer at U.S. News & World Report covering business technology, the auto industry, and other business topics. David Kissinger has been promoted to President, USA Television Production Group, a division of USA Networks, Inc.'s Entertainment unit. In his new role, Mr. Kissinger's responsibilities will include overseeing the primetime network operations of Studios USA, as well as all administration and finance for the USA Television Group. Prior to today's announcement, Mr. Kissinger held the position of President, Programming for Studios USA (SUSA) after joining SUSA's predecessor, Universal Television, as Senior Vice President, comedy development in August 1997 and serving in that capacity until being named President. Mr. Kissinger replaces Robert Fleming, a five-year veteran of the division, who is stepping down from his current position to pursue other opportunities. Steve Rosenberg, President of USA Television Distribution Group, a separate USAi division, remains responsible for SUSA's first-run programming and sales operations. Across the Board: The Conference Board Magazine of Ideas and Opinion has been redesigned and will expand in size from 64 pages to 80, beginning with the March/April issue. The magazine currently reaches more than 25,000 readers. ChurchLink.com, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lone Wolf Energy Inc. dba iWolf Group, announced the rollout of its online Church Information Center. Under development since last summer, ChurchLink.com is a web-based pictorial directory service for churches that also offers online prayer ministry, electronic newsletter publication, business directory, website hosting and other features. Fatbrain.com, a wholly owned subsidiary of Barnes & Noble.com, announced today that it has signed an agreement with Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL - news) to provide a FinditNow(TM) custom online bookstore for Continental's employees worldwide. Percussion Software, a provider of Web content management systems, announced a technology partnership with ScreamingMedia, a provider of content solutions. Percussion and ScreamingMedia will jointly market an integrated content management solution that includes Percussion's Rhythmyx Content Manager, an XML content management system, and ScreamingMedia's SiteWare, technology for distributed and integrated digital content. NewsFactor Network, an ebusiness and technology news publisher, announced the expansion of one of its media properties -- CRMDaily.com with several new areas of industry news coverage. CRMDaily.com features daily news and analysis about customer relationship management (CRM), as well as customer service and ecommerce infrastructure. Major site enhancements include five new sections: the CRM Stock Index which tracks approximately three dozen publicly-held CRM companies, plus Research, Big Deals, Good News, and Bad News. Americana Publishing, Inc. Chairman, George Lovato, Jr. announced it has purchased the assets of Trine Publications, Inc. for 10,000 shares of common stock. Trine Publications, Inc. has over 30 authors under contract and has released 6 books over the last year. The E. W. Scripps Company has named B. Jeff Craig as the company's chief technology officer, effective Feb. 19. Craig, a 20-year telecommunications and media industry veteran, comes to the newly created position at Scripps from Discovery Communications Inc., where for the past three years he has been senior vice president of interactive technology and new media development. At Scripps, Craig will report to Rich Boehne, executive vice president. Craig will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the operation and development of information systems and technology for the Scripps cable television networks, newspapers, broadcast television stations and 31 related websites. He will be based at Scripps corporate headquarters in Cincinnati. FantastiCon, Inc. announced that its entertainment and pop-culture destination website has officially launched the introductory episode of Brother Rake. The debut marks the first in a series of planned 'cybersodes,' original entertainment content designed specifically for its avid audience of fantasy, science fiction, animation and popular culture enthusiasts. The monthly series Brother Rake is the illustrated story of an ex-spy who finds his true calling as a warrior monk. Viewers can download the latest episode as well as an interview with its creator. IntraNet Solutions, Inc., a provider of Web content management solutions, announced it has formed a strategic alliance with arcadiaOne, a provider of XML-based digital content syndication solutions, to automate and manage content syndication. Xyvision Enterprise Solutions, Inc. (XyEnterprise), a developer of XML content management and publishing software, announced that it has acquired Lightbinders, Inc. of San Francisco, CA. Lightbinders is a publishing systems integrator and publisher of SGML/XML based CD-ROMs, Web, print documentation and journals. LearnCom, Inc. announced that it has acquired VideoLearning Systems, Inc. (VLS) of Bryn Mawr, Penn., aleading distributor of training videos, courseware and CD-ROM's with a library totaling more than 6,000 training titles and more than 30,000 customers.
