Yack Shifts to a Licensing/Syndication Model

Yack, an online events guide, is moving away from the business-to-consumer model to focus on syndication and licensing of its online event guides. The announcement was made by Yack President & CEO Jeff Morris.

According to Morris, Yack will be modeled after traditional TV/movie listings providers, as a source for Web program and event listings. Yack will focus on repackaging and reselling its content and services, which include a database of over 150,000 media and chat event listings each week.

Under the B2B model, Yack's advertising sales, marketing and business development departments have been combined. The new Yack Marketing & Sales division will be headed by General Manager, Victoria Quoss, who joins Yack from streaming media company Microcast, Inc. Yack will generate revenues from licensing and syndication fees, as well as ad sales and partnership fees. Despite the shift in business model, the company will continue to operate its consumer-driven Yack.com website

``We are moving into very exciting territory, filled with unlimited potential for growth,'' said Morris. ``With this new direction, we've opened our doors to multiple revenue streams. Yack will provide a wide range of much-needed services, while giving our advertisers and partners more exposure than ever. And I'm extremely excited that we have been able to attract top-notch professionals such as Victoria and Rob to head this effort.''
