Reader's Digest Announces Content Agreement with Amazon.com

The Reader's Digest Association, Inc. has announced a licensing agreement with online retailer Amazon.com. Under the agreement, The Family Handyman and American Woodworker magazines will share editorial content in exchange for subscription offerings and branding in Amazon.com's Tools and Hardware store. Amazon.com customers will be able to access reviews and how-to information from both publications within the Amazon Tools & Hardware store.

Mike Reilly, publisher of the Reader's Digest DIY publications stated, ``We are very excited about this partnership and the potential it offers. The increased visibility and branding of our do-it-yourself group is another component of our strategy to continually build on our relationship with our readers.''

All material from the two titles at Amazon Tools & Hardware will identify the magazines as the content providers, and include hyperlinks to dedicated subscription pages. There will also be opportunities to feature Reader's Digest line of do-it-yourself and fix-it-yourself books for sale. The Family Handyman serves the home renovation and remodeling market (circ. 1,150,000) and American Woodworker (circ. 332,000) is aimed at both professional and enthusiast woodworkers.

``We are thrilled to bring The Family Handyman's great project advice to our do-it-yourself customers and American Woodworker's tool expertise to our woodworking customers,'' said Rich Mathews, general manager of Amazon Tools and Hardware. ``Providing credible and authoritative content alongside Amazon.com's extensive collection of reviews and recommendations will help customers easily shop our wide selection and find the best tool for their needs.''
