The Write News Launches The Editorial Dead Zone

The Write NewsTM, which provides news, features and resources for media and publishing professionals, has announced the launch of its new feature, The Editorial Dead ZoneTM. The Editorial Dead ZoneTM reports on website layoffs, closings, moves and reorganizations in the publishing, media and bookselling communities.

The new section of The Write NewsTM also maintains an archive of "Passings" and a list of dead companies and publications ("The Dead List"). The site also provides a section featuring companies and publications that manage to revive their content, called "The UnDead". The Editorial Dead ZoneTM allows website visitors to report about potential or actual "Passings" by email at deadzone@writenews.com.

Greg Knollenberg, editor of The Write NewsTM said, "We launched The Editorial Dead ZoneTM at the request of our readers, who include editors, publishers, writers and other content professionals. Our readers needed a way to keep up with the numerous layoffs, closings and bankruptcies which are occurring at content-related websites and print publications. Hopefully, the rapid pace at which publications and companies are dying will decrease in the future. But even during more prosperous economic times, cancelled publications and corporate reorganizations are a part of the publishing business. We believe this new section will help keep our readers up to speed about these important events."

The Write NewsTM is a service of Writers Write, Inc., a new media company which publishes Writers Write®, the Internet's largest and leading writing resource. The company's flagship website, Writerswrite.com, receives over 2.6 million hits and 850,000 pageviews each month. Writerswrite.com provides job listings, markets, discussion, links and an award winning online magazine,The Internet Writing Journal®, which contains author interviews, articles and book reviews in all genres. Writers Write, Inc. also owns Howtoweb.com, Driversdrive.com and Readersread.com.
